Be part of our online singing research program

Aug. 26, 2021

Contribute to innovative research by joining our study investigating the effects of online singing for people with Parkinson’s.

The study is being conducted by Fight Parkinson’s in conjunction with The University of Melbourne, La Trobe University and the National Health and Medical Research Council.

It aims to explore the impact of online singing on the severity of Parkinson’s symptoms and any changes to communication and wellbeing for people with Parkinson’s disease.

The best part – you get to enjoy being part of an online singing group, learn new music skills and connect with others living with Parkinson’s, all while contributing to this innovative research program.

What's involved?

The research is open to all people who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (confirmed by a neurologist) and are willing to participate in an online ParkinSong singing group for either 4 or 12 weeks. You can participate from the comfort of your own home and no music talent or prior experience is required. It is a 90 minute commitment per week, plus an assessment of your Parkinson’s severity, communication and wellbeing before and after.

Research timing:

  • 4 week trial: Wednesdays in October, 11am to 12.30pm
  • 12 week trial: March-May 2022 (dates TBC)
