Autumn fundraisers will appeal to garden and art lovers

Autumn in Victoria - the weather has cooled, the leaves are turning and it’s the perfect time to get out and explore. In March, you can do just that while supporting Fight Parkinson’s at the same time.
In suburban Elsternwick, Yvonne Westcott is sharing her beautiful garden with the public through Victoria’s Open Garden Scheme.
Yvonne said like many people with Parkinson’s, she had chosen to remain in her home for as long as is possible and so accessibility to all aspects of home, including the garden, was paramount.
Yvonne’s Garden at 43 Bertram Street, Elsternwick, will be open to the public on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March from 10am – 4.30pm. Entry is $8 per person (under 18 free). There will be a sausage sizzle and passionfruit from the garden will also be on sale.
People wanting to add to the beauty of their own garden can take advantage of the Tesselaar Bulbs’ Parkinson’s fundraiser, which is back after raising $672 last year.
You have until 12 April to support your Parkinson’s community, with 40% of all sales going directly to Fight Parkinson’s and the continued provision of information and services to Victorians living with Parkinson’s.
If art is your thing, take a trip out to the beautiful river-side town of Warrandyte, where the vibrant works of Pam Booth will be on display at the Stonehouse Gallery & Shop in Yarra Street.
Pam is a talented local artist, known for her creative works, in particular her stylistic figures in felt on canvas. As part of her exhibition, ‘Reflections – Where to from here?’ Pam will share her experiences of living with Parkinson’s and hopes to raise awareness of the life-changing condition.
The exhibition will run from 5-31 March, with a Meet the Artist session from 1pm-4pm on Tuesday 5 March.
